Hugh and I have been really busy for most of the last 2 weeks and have met some lovely people here at Glenroy Guest House. It has gone a little quiet for a couple of days so we decided to accept an invite to the Smokery at Inverawe. We received a very warm welcome from the Cafe team Sam and Jo. We were then treated to a very thorough tour of the smoke houses by their enthusiastic owner Robert. Apart from the smoke houses and Cafe, the facility has a number of beautiful Forest walks which allow you to enjoy the local scenery at its best. Inverawe also has a selection of well stocked Fishing lakes for fly fishing which also provided facilities for disabled fishermen/women. We were novices in this regard, fortunately Phil, the exceptionally patient fly fishing instructor was on hand to show us the intricacies of fly fishing. We understand that there are other seasonal attractions available on site however these were not in operation at the time of our visit. Overall we had a great day out topped of with a cup of tea in the Cafe and we left with a selection of smoked delicacies to enjoy at home. It is well worth the 35 minute drive from Oban and we will certainly visit again. If anyone is thinking of staying with us then we have some vouchers for free entry to the smokery.
